Holy Martyrs Melasippus, Cassina and Their Son Antoninus (+363)
The holy Martyrs Melasippus, Cassina and their son Antoninus suffered in the reign of the Emperor Julian the Apostate (361–363) at Ancyra in Phrygia in 363.
Melasippus and Cassina, their bodies torn and maimed with iron hooks, committed their souls to the Lord in suffering. Their son, the boy Antoninus, whom the tormentor forced to watch his parents’ torture, spat in the apostate emperor’s face. For this he was terribly tortured and beheaded. Forty young men who witnessed the miracle that took place during Antoninus’s torture believed in Christ, openly confessed the faith and died as martyrs.
