Holy Apostles Tertius, Mark, Justus and Artemas, of the Seventy (I)

Saint Tertius was the second bishop of Iconium (after the holy Apostle Sosipater). There he converted many pagans to Christianity, and at last died a martyr. Saint Tertius is mentioned by the Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans (16:22). Saint Mark, also called John (Acts 12:12), the nephew of Barnabas, was bishop of Apollonias (Col. 4:10). Saint Justus, called Barsabas, the son of Joseph the Betrothed (Acts 1:23), was consecrated bishop of Eleutheropolis (southern Palestine) and there found a martyr’s end. Saint Artemas (Titus 3:12) was bishop of the city of Lystra (Lycaonia). After unwearying labours he committed his soul to the Lord in peace.
