Venerable Peter of Galatia (IX)

The Venerable Peter of Galatia at first served in the army of the Emperor Theophilus, but then withdrew from the world and was tonsured a monk in the house of Daphne near Antioch in Syria. The valiant ascetic completed his long labours, pleasing to God, in Constantinople, in the monastery of Saint Phocas. He reposed in peace in the ninth century, in the reign of the Emperor Basil the Macedonian (867–886).
