Venerable Ignatius (+963–975)

The Venerable Ignatius lived in Cappadocia in the tenth century. His parents offered him to the Lord in his childhood. When he came of age the blessed one was tonsured a monk and was soon ordained priest. Later Ignatius was appointed abbot of the monastery of the Saviour near Constantinople. The venerable father laboured diligently for the monastery. Saint Ignatius died near the city of Amorium in 975. Long afterwards his relics were brought up incorrupt.
