Holy Martyr Romulus and Many Others with Him (+107–115)
The holy Martyr Romulus was a commander of the Emperor Trajan (98–117). Trajan went to the east of the empire to put down the unrest of the peoples living there, and when he reviewed the army he discovered eleven Christians among the soldiers. He at once exiled them to Armenia. Saint Romulus denounced the emperor for his godlessness and folly, and at the same time confessed that he too was a Christian. By order of the enraged Trajan the saint was cruelly tortured and then beheaded.
The Christian soldiers exiled to Armenia were also put to death by various kinds of torture.
