Venerable Macarius, Abbot of Pelecete (+c. 830)

The Venerable Macarius was superior of the monastery of Pelecete. When the heresy of iconoclasm was raging, he endured persecution and imprisonment for his faithfulness to the Orthodox faith. He reposed around 830. The holy Church also celebrates his memory on 1 April.
