Holy Martyrs Vianor and Silvanus (IV)

The holy Martyrs Vianor and Silvanus. Saint Vianor was born in the region of Pisidia in Asia Minor. He was seized for confessing Christ and brought to the governor of the city of Isauria in Lycaonia. The lawless ruler demanded that the saint deny the faith of the Saviour, but Vianor firmly refused and, in spite of many kinds of torture, remained unbending.

The pagan Silvanus, an eyewitness of the martyr’s patience, believed in and confessed Christ, for which his tongue was cut out and then he was beheaded. Vianor, exhausted by long torture, shared his lot: the tormentors killed him with the sword.

The date of the holy martyrs’ sufferings is not known exactly. It is supposed that they died in the reign of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305).
