Synaxis of the Holy, Glorious and All-praised Twelve Apostles: Peter, Andrew, James son of Zebedee, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Jude of James (Thaddaeus), Simon the Zealot and Matthias
The Synaxis of the holy, glorious and all-praised Twelve Apostles is a very ancient feast. The Church has appointed a special day to remember the labours of each of these preachers of the truth, but on the day after the feast of Peter and Paul she commemorates all of them together.
We have evidence of the celebration of this feast from the fourth century.
