Venerable Achillius, Bishop of Larissa (IV)

The Venerable Achillius, Bishop of Larissa (+330), lived in the reign of Saint Constantine the Great. Distinguished by holiness and learning, the Venerable Achillius was chosen Bishop of the Thessalian city of Larissa. Saint Achillius took part in the work of the First Ecumenical Council and denounced the heresy of Arius. In his city the venerable father pulled down the idol-temples and built churches. The saint was granted by the Lord the gift of healing diseases.

Saint Achillius died around 330. Since 978 his holy relics have rested in Bulgaria, in the city of Prespa.
