Hieromartyr Bishop Alvianus and His Disciples (+304)
The holy Hieromartyr Bishop Alvianus (+304) was bishop of the city of Anea in the province of Asia. He met his end for Christ during the persecution of Christians by Diocletian and Maximian in 304. Saint Alvianus was ordered to offer sacrifice to an idol, but he firmly confessed Christ and refused to serve idols. The saint was tortured with red-hot iron and mercilessly beaten, but they could not break him. His disciples were tortured with him. At last the saints were thrown into a red-hot furnace.
