Venerable Memnon the Wonderworker
The Venerable Memnon the Wonderworker laboured from his youth in the Egyptian desert. After being chosen abbot of one of the monasteries of the desert, the saint governed the brotherhood wisely and carefully, and helped them with prayer and counsel.
As the fruit of unceasing prayer and labour the venerable father received the grace of foresight. Through his prayer a spring appeared in the desert, the locusts that were destroying the crops were wiped out, and the passengers of a sinking ship were saved. After the saint’s death the same miracles were repeated through prayers offered to him.
