Martyr Adrian (+251)
The holy Martyr Adrian (+251) was imprisoned for confessing Christ in the time of the Emperor Decius (249–251). At a certain pagan festival the godless released all the Christians from the prisons on condition that they offer sacrifice to the idols. Saint Adrian too was ordered to put incense on the altar, but the martyr threw the offerings to the ground, put out the fire and wrecked the altar. The enraged pagans beat the saint cruelly and threw him into a red-hot furnace.
