The holy Martyr Leonides and the women Charissa, Nike, Galina, Kallis, Nunechia, Basilissa, Theodora, Irene and others met their end in Corinth in 258. For confessing Christ they were thrown into the water to be drowned, but the Lord miraculously preserved them and glorified their faith: walking on the water and singing, the martyrs courageously blessed and praised the almighty power of God. The executioners, their minds darkened by demons, overtook the saints in boats, tied stones round their necks, and so drowned them.
