Holy Hieromartyr Alexander (+270–275)
The holy Hieromartyr Alexander suffered for Christ in the time of the Emperor Aurelian (270–275). The governor Antoninus interrogated the saint and then tortured him cruelly. Miraculously protected by God, Alexander bore the pain without complaint. Then he was beheaded.
As soon as Antoninus rose from the judge’s seat he became possessed, and gave up the ghost in terrible torment.
