Holy Martyr Epimachus (+c. 250)
The holy Martyr Epimachus (+c. 250) came from Egypt. For a long time he lived as a recluse on Mount Pelusium. During the persecution of Christians in Alexandria (c. 250) Saint Epimachus came into the city, smashed the pagan idols and fearlessly preached the teaching of Christ, for which he was cruelly tortured. Among the witnesses of his martyrdom stood a woman whose eye was diseased. The holy blood of the martyr healed her. After terrible tortures the saint was beheaded.
