Holy 440 Martyrs of Italy (+579)

The holy 440 martyrs of Italy (+579) were slain by the Lombards (a Germanic tribe) because they would not bow down to idols. Of those who suffered, only the names of the presbyter Sanctulus and the hermit Gospitius are known.
