Venerable Leo, Monk of Cappadocia
The Venerable Leo, a monk of Cappadocia, “laid down his life” out of love for his neighbour. He gave himself up of his own will as a captive to the Saracens: in place of three sick monks he offered them himself, healthy and fit for labour. The holy father could not endure the long journey through the desert and his strength failed, for which the lawless ones killed him with the sword.
