Venerable Maron the Syrian Hermit (IV)

The Venerable Maron lived in the fourth century in Syria, near Cyrrhus. The saint became famous for his gift of healing the sick and casting out demons. The blessed father advised those who wished for spiritual instruction to be abstinent, to care for their salvation, and to guard themselves against love of money and anger. Disciples of the Venerable Maron were James the Hermit (commemorated 26 November), Limnaeus (commemorated 23 February), Domnina (commemorated 1 March) and many others; at that time many monasteries were founded in the region of Cyrrhus.
