Venerable Peter, Bishop of Sebaste (IV)

Saint Peter of Sebaste was the brother of the hierarchs Basil the Great and Gregory of Nyssa (commemorated 1 and 10 January); his elder sister Macrina (commemorated 19 July) had a great part in his upbringing.

Saint Basil the Great ordained Peter priest, and after Basil’s death he was appointed Bishop of Sebaste. The hierarch Peter attended the Second Ecumenical Council held in Constantinople.
