"The Montreal Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos and Brother Joseph"
This is the title of a book printed by the publishing house 'Alilo'.
The Canadian Orthodox iconographer Joseph Munoz-Cortes brought from Mount Athos to Montreal in 1982 — and in the years that followed carried with him around the whole world — a copy of the Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, from which, from the time it was written, myrrh continuously flowed for 15 years (1982–1997). Munoz became the icon's keeper. The icon worked many miracles and became renowned for healings and wonders. On December 31, 1997, Munoz was killed as a martyr; the icon disappeared, and its whereabouts remain unknown.
Joseph Munoz used to say:
"Young people are forced to live in the material world, forgetting the spiritual — and this destroys them."
The book recounts in detail the story of Joseph Munoz and the copy of the myrrh-streaming Iveron icon.
