The book of Saint Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia, "Life and Words", is being published in Georgian for the second time. This remarkable saint is becoming ever more renowned throughout the Christian world. The great hesychast Elder Joseph held the holy father in deep reverence.
"Today Christians, especially young people, open the first pages of this book and begin to read — and the impression made on them by encountering the wondrous life and teaching of the holy father runs so deep that they cannot put it down," writes Archbishop Irenaeos of Crete in the foreword to the Georgian edition of the book.
"Both I and other brothers who personally knew St. Porphyrios, and who often spoke with him about our problems and difficulties, now find — holding his books in our hands — that we cannot get our fill of reading them again and again, and every time we feel as though he is right beside us, speaking with us," Bishop Irenaeos continues.
We hope that, for those Georgian readers encountering the holy father's writings for the first time, Saint Porphyrios of Kafsokalyvia will become just as close and beloved as he is to his spiritual children and to thousands of Christians throughout the world.
