The interest of modern society in the life of the Church is especially high today. Questions of canonical relations between local Churches, the diptychs, authority and church law have now become a subject of discussion and dispute not only for clergy and parishioners, but also for people far removed from the Church.
In these circumstances, the publication of a two-volume complete corpus of the canons of the Orthodox Church, accompanied by the commentaries of one of the greatest authorities of the universal Orthodox Church, St. Nikodim (Milaš), bishop and confessor, has truly proven to be a worthy undertaking.
This two-volume edition contains commentaries on the canons of the holy Apostles and the seven Ecumenical Councils, together with valuable information related to the life of the Church.
The book is intended above all for clergy — those responsible and authorized to guide the life of the Church — as well as for historians, legal scholars and researchers interested in church law, and for students of theological schools.
The book's reviewer is Bishop Dositheos (Bogveradze) of the Belgian-Dutch Diocese of the Georgian Orthodox Church;
editor — Archpriest Longinoz Suarishvili, head of the Department of Canon Law at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary;
translator — Vladimer Chkhikvadze.
