Description

Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Julia.

Saint Julia was one of the Seven Virgin Martyrs, who lived and worked in Ankara in 304 AD, during the Maximian Empire.

They engaged in great charitable work and unhesitatingly resisted idolatry. Guided by the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus Christ, they preached the way of Salvation.

Their work enraged the pagans, who imprisoned them and subjected them to horrible tortures. Saint Julia , like the rest of the of the Seven Virgin Martyrs, died when they threw her into a lake to drown.
