Description

Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Sokrates.

Saint Sokrates was a priest who lived in the 3rd century AD during the reign of Alexander Severus. Together with Saint Theodota they did a great charity work and with their teaching they helped the community to come close to God and receive the blessing of Baptism.

In Ankara, Saint Sokrates together with Saint Theodota were captured by pagans and forced to renounce Christianity, a demand which they did not satisfy and which led to their beheading.

The Icon of Saint Sokrates is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.

During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.

It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
