James and John belonged to the Twelve Disciples of the Lord and were present at the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ .
After the Resurrection, James the Apostle engaged in apostolic work to spread the Gospel to distant places. However, in 44 AD, Herod Agrippa ordered his beheading.
