Handmade Byzantine Icon with Panagia the Epakouousa (in Greek it means "She who Hears") holding Jesus Christ in her lap.
This specific name of Panagia came, according to tradition, from the supplication of Blessed Kosmas that Panagia heard and fulfilled around the 13th or 14th century.
Specifically, in the Holy Monastery of Zografou on Mount Athos , Blessed Kosmas turned to the icon saying: "Most Holy Theotokos, pray to your Son and God, to lead me on the path of salvation." Then, the Virgin Mary was heard to say: "My Son and God, teach your servant how to be saved" and immediately Jesus Christ answered: "Let him depart from the monastery and find his peace alone."
Since then, Blessed Cosmas has devoted himself to hesychasm , while the icon of Panagia is glorified for its miracles.
The icon of Panagia the Epakouousa is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
