Handmade Byzantine Icon of Panagia Glykophilousa which in Greek means "Sweet Kissing". The icon depicts Panagia in a standing position caring for her Son, Jesus Christ.
Panagia Glykophiloussa is a popular icon of Panagia with great theological interest as it was miraculously saved from the Byzantine Iconoclasm of the 9th century.
Specifically, a devout Christian threw the icon into the sea in order to save it from destruction. Miraculously, the icon reached Mount Athos where it was rescued by the monks and continued its miracles. Since then, Panagia Glykophiloussa is often depicted and chosen by the faithful for her blessing.
The icon of Panagia Glykophiloussa is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
