Venerable Patapius (VII)

The Venerable Patapius was born in the city of Thebes, into a family of pious Christians. When he came of age, the saint went into the Egyptian desert. After many years Saint Patapius became famous far and wide for his ascetic labours, and countless people began to come to him to ask for counsel. Then the venerable father, who sought silence, went to Constantinople and made himself a cell by the city wall near the Church of Blachernae. Soon Patapius’s name became known here too. The Lord granted His chosen one the gifts of healing and casting out evil spirits. The Venerable Patapius died in deep old age.
