Venerable Romanus the Wonderworker (V)
The Venerable Romanus the Wonderworker was born in the city of Rhosus and laboured near Antioch in the fifth century. For his tireless labours the Lord granted him the gifts of clairvoyance and healing. Through the saint’s prayers many childless women were delivered from barrenness. Saint Romanus was a strict faster and wore heavy chains under his sackcloth. For many years the blessed one lived in seclusion without ever lighting a fire. At last, in deep old age, the venerable father committed his soul to the Lord in peace.
