Holy and Righteous Guardians of the Tomb of Christ: John, Stephen and Isaiah the Georgians

Information about Saints John, Stephen and Isaiah the Georgians has been preserved only by the church calendar.

In the choir of the saints those Christians are called righteous who spent their whole earthly life in the glory of God and the service of the nation. Their life contains within itself the labour of the venerable and God-clad fathers, the confessors and the martyrs.

Among the saints who have shone forth in the Church of Georgia only four are canonised with the title and labour of the righteous. Among them are Ilia Chavchavadze, known to all and called the father of the nation and its uncrowned king, and the saints forgotten through time and our own negligence: John, Stephen and Isaiah the Georgians. The Apostolic Church of Georgia has been keeping their commemoration for several centuries now.

As scholars and researchers suppose, the saints laboured in Jerusalem and were honoured guardians of the Tomb of Christ.
