Holy Martyrs Capitolina and Eroteis (+304)
The holy Martyrs Capitolina and Eroteis suffered in 304, during the persecution of the Christians by the Emperor Diocletian (284–305). Saint Capitolina was arrested for confessing Christ and run through with the sword. When her servant, Saint Eroteis, saw her mistress’s executioner, she threw a stone in his face. For this she was cruelly beaten with ox sinews and clubs. The next day the blessed one was thrown into a heated furnace, but miraculously came through unharmed. At last the godless beheaded her.
