Holy Martyr Anastasius (III)
The holy Martyr Anastasius, during the persecution of the Christians by the Emperor Diocletian (284–305), gave himself up to the tormentors of his own will. At his trial he boldly confessed Christ as the true God; the godless beheaded the Lord’s chosen one and then threw his body into the sea. A devout and wealthy Christian woman, Asclepia, recovered the martyr’s remains and buried them with honour. Many miracles took place at the saint’s incorrupt relics.
