Holy Virgin Pelagia (+303)

The holy virgin Martyr Pelagia, of noble descent, lived in Antioch and was a disciple of the Hieromartyr Lucian (commemorated 15 October). When, during the persecution of the Christians, soldiers came to seize the saint, she was only fifteen. The blessed one asked them to give her a little time, and herself stood to pray and asked the Lord to protect her from violation by the lawless; then she threw herself down from the roof of the house and gave up her spirit on the spot. This happened in the fourth century, it is thought in 303.
