Righteous Eudocimus of Cappadocia (IX)
The holy Martyr Julitta lived in Caesarea of Cappadocia in the time of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305). A pagan seized her estate, and when the saint sought through the court to recover the property that belonged to her, the godless man declared that Julitta was a Christian and no law could protect her. The judge proposed to the blessed one that she first offer sacrifice to the idols and then see to the restoring of justice; but Saint Julitta firmly refused to accept the treacherous condition. For her faithfulness to Christ the blessed mother was burned at the stake in 304 (or 305). Seventy years after her martyrdom the holy hierarch Basil the Great composed a word of praise to glorify the saint.
