Dormition of Righteous Anna, Mother of the Most Holy Mother of God

The Dormition of Righteous Anna, mother of the Most Holy Mother of God. The blessed Anna was the daughter of the priest Nathan and his wife Mary, of the tribe of Levi, of the line of Aaron. According to tradition, she reposed in peace in Jerusalem at the age of seventy-nine, before the Annunciation to the Most Holy Virgin Mary. Later her remains were translated to Constantinople (see the reading for 9 September).
