Commemorated 10 June · 23 June N.S.

Hieromartyr Timothy, Bishop of Prusa (+361–363)

The holy Hieromartyr Timothy, Bishop of Prusa (+c. 361–363), was bishop of the city of Prusa (Bithynia). For his holy life he was granted by the Lord the grace of wonderworking. The successor of the apostolic throne converted many pagans to the law of Christ. When Julian the Apostate (361–363) learned of Timothy’s holy life, he threw him into prison, but the saint went on spreading the saving teaching there too. The emperor reminded the prisoner of his demand that he stop preaching, but threats could not frighten Timothy, for which the holy and pious hierarch was beheaded. Later his holy relics were translated to Constantinople.
