Holy Hieromartyr Therapon, Bishop of Cyprus (IV)

The holy Hieromartyr Therapon, Bishop of Cyprus (IV), boldly confessed the faith of Christ during the persecution of Christians by Diocletian (284–305), for which he was made worthy of the martyr’s crown. The hieromartyr’s holy relics rested on Cyprus and worked many miracles, and in 806, for fear of Saracen raids, they were translated to Constantinople. On the way myrrh began to flow from the holy relics. A miracle also took place: through the saint’s intercession the ship was saved from a terrible storm. The holy thing was placed in the church of the icon of the Mother of God Eleousa (feast on 12 November). That same year the holy relics were moved to a church dedicated to Saint Therapon, where miracles continued to take place.
