Holy Martyr Vladimir, Prince of Serbia (1015)

The holy Martyr Vladimir, Prince of Serbia (+1015), governed his domains, Illyria and Dalmatia, wisely. The pious ruler was married to Kosara, daughter of Samuel, king of Bulgaria. Summoned under the pretext of negotiations with the king of Bulgaria, Vladimir was treacherously killed at the doors of a church on 22 May 1015. The holy prince’s devout wife shut herself up in the church her husband had built and laboured there until her death.
