Martyrs Pasicrates and Valentinus (228)
The holy Martyrs Pasicrates and Valentinus (+228) were from the city of Dorostolum in Moesia and served at the court of the governor Absolan. Pasicrates was twenty-two, and Valentinus thirty.
When the persecution of Christians began, Saints Pasicrates and Valentinus publicly confessed Christianity. At the trial Saint Pasicrates spat at the idol of Apollo.
The saint’s brother wept and begged him to offer sacrifice to the altars at least in pretence, but the martyr chose death for Christ over a vain life preserved by a lie. The Martyr Valentinus too declared that he was ready to die for Christ.
Both saints were run through with the sword.
