Hieromartyr Paphnutius, Bishop of Jerusalem
The Hieromartyr Paphnutius was Bishop of Jerusalem. He endured many torments from the pagans, and at last he was beheaded.
There is a supposition that the Hieromartyr Paphnutius was an Egyptian bishop and perished together with the Egyptians exiled to the mines of Palestine during the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian (284–305).
The hieromartyr’s myrrh-flowing relics worked many miracles. The canon to the saint was written when the iconoclast heresy held sway (before 842).
