Martyr Pausianus (II)

The holy Martyr Pausianus (+c. 117–138) met his end in the time of the Emperor Hadrian. Denounced by pagans for his Christianity, Saint Pausianus was brought before the emperor. After long tortures Pausianus was put in chains and led away to be killed. On the way he fervently besought the Lord to deliver him from the hands of the executioners and grant him a peaceful end. The Lord heard his entreaty: the beaten and exhausted martyr felt such strength in himself that he tore apart the iron chains and ran. The executioners pursued him, but before they came near, Saint Pausianus commended his soul to the Lord.

The Christians buried the martyr’s body with honour.
