Description

The Nativity of Christ is one of the principal Orthodox feasts, one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Lord. It commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ from the Most Holy Virgin Mary in Bethlehem of Judea and is always kept on the same day — 7 January (25 December, Old Style).

The icon shows several events from different moments: the Angels worshipping the newborn Christ, the washing of the Child, and Joseph meeting the shepherd.

A Nativity of Christ icon in festive packaging makes a lovely Christmas gift.
