Description
Richly decorated and combining different materials and techniques, this chalice will be a true adornment of the services. Made of nickel silver and copper, the chalice is gilded, with a niello-darkened interior. The cup is decorated with four decal medallions of Christ, the Mother of God, St John the Forerunner and the Cross of the Lord. Around the rim of the inner cup are the words of the prayer: “Receive the Body of Christ; taste the fountain of immortality.” Nickel silver needs proper use and care to avoid dark spots. To keep nickel silver from darkening, wipe the metal dry with a soft cloth straight after washing. Every drop of water left to dry on the surface leaves a dark oxide mark.
