Bible in a gilded cover.
The text of this edition was prepared over many years, with the prayerful blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia, by Doctor of Philology and Theology Edisher Chelidze. The book is the first complete edition of the text of Holy Scripture, supplied with commentary. As the compiler of the edition notes, it is essential that "as far as possible, a properly corrected traditional text become established in church services and among the faithful." The edition comes with the Patriarch's personal blessing and prayer. It can be said with confidence that we now have the first fully prepared, complete edition of the text of Holy Scripture in the Georgian language — for the first time in twenty centuries.
