A new release from "Alilo" — for the parishioners of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
The book "Gospel Readings of Holy Week" is intended specifically for parishioners and will help them, in the final week of Great Lent, to fully grasp the meaning of every service.
During Holy Week, from Thursday through Friday, the passages of the Holy Gospel are read that recount the events of the last week of the Saviour's earthly life. These readings, which we hear at vespers, matins, the hours, and the liturgy, are quite extensive and, in most cases, are "composite" — meaning that one reading brings together the corresponding episodes from all four Gospels.
The book will help parishioners follow the text of each reading as it is heard, presented here in the same order as in church.
This edition is also a fitting gift for those members of the parish who — due to circumstances — are unable to attend services. The book will allow them to read, in sequence and at home, all the Gospel readings of Holy Week.
