Description

Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Panagia "The Saviour of the World".

The fresco of Panagia "The Saviour of the World" is located in the monastery located in the current city of Fera, in the prefecture of Evros, which was founded in 1125 by the emperor Isaac Komnenos.

The monastery was converted into a mosque around the 14th century, and from 1940, after renovation work, it began to function again as a Christian church. Inside there are many frescoes of great theological interest.

More famous, however, is Panagia "The Saviour of the World " , who is said to point with her hand to the spot where Isaac Komnenos is buried.

The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.

Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.

During the final processing, the Aged-Wooden Icon of Panagia "The Saviour of the World" is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.

Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
