Description

Handmade Byzantine Icon of the Repose of Saint Ephraim the Syrian.

Saint Ephraim was born in Mesopotamia and grew up with a Christian education. He was distinguished for his knowledge and his virtues, which he very often used to defend his faith against heretics.

When the Persians subdued his city, Saint Ephraim went to Edessa, where he followed an ascetic life.

He died peacefully in 373 AD and part of his holy relic is kept in the Monastery of Great Lavra on Mount Athos.

Troparion of Saint Ephraim the Syrian

By a flood of tears you made the desert fertile, / and your longing for God brought forth fruits in abundance. / By the radiance of miracles you illumined the whole universe! / Our Father Ephraim, pray to Christ God to save our souls!

The Icon of Saint Ephraim the Syrian is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.

During the final processing, the icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.

It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
