Description

Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Panagia of Panagia The Kykkotissa . Panagia is depicted holding Jesus Christ in her arms.

In the Holy Monastery of Kykkos, which was founded at the end of the 11th century in Cyprus, there is the miraculous Icon of Panagia Kykkotissa .

According to tradition, the Icon was brought to the Monastery of Kykkos from Istanbul as an act of gratitude by lord Voutomitis of Cyprus to the hermit Isaiah, who cured him of a serious illness.

The aging technique is meticulously applied to the Icon by hand and gives it the look of time while the depiction retains its artistic details.

Around the perimeter, the aging becomes more apparent with frayed edges that give the Icon a distinctive appearance.

During the final processing, the Icon is polished with a special varnish to withstand time.

Note: The final Icon may slightly differ from the catalog photo.
