Handmade Byzantine Icon of Saint Phanurius, the Great Martyr.
Saint Phanurius was unknown to the Christian Church until the 14th century AD when his icon was found in Rhodes, depicting him as a young soldier with the twelve martyrdoms painted around him.
A Holy Temple was rebuilt on the spot and Saint Phanurius became the island's patron saint. The miracles are many and are remembered by the Christian Church and the faithful.
On the eve of his feast, the congregation make "Fanouropita" , a pie that looks like a small loaf of bread, which they distribute to the poor, while tradition says that the pie can "reveal" (as its name suggests) things to those who make it.

A heavenly song of praise is brightly sung on the earth; * the hosts of the Angels keep an earthly festival now in splendor and radiant joy; * from on high, they praise with hymns the suff'rings and struggles; * and below, the Church doth laud the heavenly glory * thou foundest by thy contests and pains, O glorious Phanurius.
The Icon of Saint Phanurius is an exact copy of Byzantine art and is created by experienced craftsmen using the method of gold printing where hagiographic leaves of 22 karat gold are applied in detail to decorate the background.
During the final processing, the Icon is painted with dark red color around the perimeter and polished with a special varnish to maintain its shine.
It is offered in level or recessed wooden surface and is suitable for wall mounting.
