Aged-Wooden Byzantine Icon of Saint James the Apostle, Son of Alphaeus.

Saint James the Apostle , son of Alphaeus, was one of the Twelve Disciples of Jesus Christ, but he is distinguished from James, son of Zebedee . The Scriptures, do not refer much about his life, except his birth in Galilee and his apostolic work in Gaza, Palestine and Egypt, where he was martyred.
